Central Siem Reap / Old Market. The compact tourist heart around Pub Street, the Old Market, and the river, walkable to nightlife and dining. Convenient and lively, though the busiest area at night. Good for: First-timers, nightlife, walkers.
Wat Bo Road. A leafy, riverside neighborhood just east of the center, dense with boutique guesthouses, cafes, and quieter charm. A short walk or tuk-tuk from Pub Street with a more relaxed feel. Good for: Boutique stays, couples.
Charles de Gaulle / Airport Road. The corridor toward the Angkor temples and airport, home to grand luxury resorts and spas set in expansive grounds. Serene and upscale, but requires a tuk-tuk into town. Good for: Luxury, honeymoons, spa.
Sok San Road. A developing strip with a mix of mid-range hotels, bars, and pools, just west of the center. Slightly quieter than Pub Street but still close to the action. Good for: Mid-range, value.
Sala Kamreuk / Wat Damnak. A more residential, local-feeling area south of the river with guesthouses and top restaurants like Cuisine Wat Damnak. Peaceful, with a genuine neighborhood atmosphere. Good for: Longer stays, local immersion.
